QS MoveON Scholarship 2020 Winner: Rami Bouhassan
By Craig OCallaghan
Updated February 11, 2021 Updated February 11, 2021We're pleased to announce that Rami Bouhassan has been selected as one of this year's recipients of a QS MoveON scholarship. We spoke with Rami to learn more about his study plans and also get his advice for any future scholarship applicants.
What are you studying and why did you choose your university?
I study pharmacy. One of the reasons that made me choose University of Barcelona is the great feedback I received from the previous UCL students who have done their exchange year there. In addition, I always wanted to learn Spanish and living and studying in Barcelona is the best opportunity to learn this language.
What do you hope to gain from your degree?
Pharmacy is a very patient-focused profession and having a pharmacy degree can provide me with scientific research and development opportunities, job stability with good professional progression and access to different industries. Studying abroad has also helped me to improve my communication skills by meeting different people and expanding my social network. It also allowed me to explore a different culture and live new experiences that can shape my personality for the better.
How did you find the scholarship application process?
Writing the study abroad essay as part of the application process was very interesting especially because I’m writing about a lifetime experience I’m really looking forward to. The process was easy and straightforward compared to other scholarships that requires designing a poster or a leaflet.
What difference does this scholarship make for you?
The scholarship allowed me to make the most of this experience without worrying about the financial perspective and helped me to be more selective in spending my free-time without being pressured into a part-time job. It also gave me more time to study, gain knowledge and secure better grades.
What advice do you have for future scholarship applicants?
Apply as early as you can and if you have any query about the application process don’t be shy about sending the organization an email requesting more information. It is also very important to keep trying even if you don’t win a scholarship right away. Don’t lose hope!
